Ray is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His research interests lie primarily in health economics, political economy, development, and the economics of race and gender. Ray’s dissertation focuses on using economic methods to understand the reproductive, infant, and maternal health implications of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the increasing limits on abortion access in the United States.
He was recently a research assistant at the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI), where he collaborated with faculty on a wide range of projects. His work at PERI included research on climate change, labor market policy, unions, and development aid.
